About The Position
The Research Scientist will provide scientific and technical support to management of research projects and oversee multiple concurrent solicitations, proposal review processes, contract awards and funding execution at the program level. This position will provide domain expertise and assist in coordinating the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team of government and contract researchers, clinicians, academic experts and consumers to bring all the various projects in their domain together into a cohesive effort.
This is an on-site position assigned to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. A thorough government background check will be required.

The objective of this proposal is to determine the effectiveness of early Coversin and/or CX-01 therapies aimed to attenuate morbidity and mortality after traumatic hemorrhage during prehospital/prolonged field care.
Salary Range
$68,000 - $78,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Responsibilities
- Review research documentation and provide detailed technical written notes
- Perform recurring analyses on research portfolios to identify critical gaps, exceptional results and/or lack of progress
- Interact with other services and government agencies, organize and host research planning and coordination meetings, and inform the Principal Investigator of developments
- Assist with various portfolios and technology roadmaps, within the context of the overall strategy
- Maintain open communication with the Principal Investigator, advise of processes, report progress and serve as a point of contact, as applicable
- Provide guidance to scientists preparing research proposals, to include guidance on research protocol development, as needed
- Author or co-author topics to help move through the technology roadmap for domain
- Participate in the drafting of program announcements, requests for information, proposals and vehicles to solicit offertory
- Perform scientific reviews on research proposals submitted for consideration, as requested
- Participate in Proposal Review Board meetings and make funding recommendations that are consistent with the scientific direction and technology roadmap for domain
- Participate in multifunctional teams and provide clinical and scientific domain expertise as needed
- Maintain and update files of all applicable regulatory documentation for IACUC or IRB (including protocols, approvals, amendments, modifications, etc.) as well as any communications with the sponsor or any other Federal or regulatory office (including prior approvals, change in scope, etc.)
- Advanced Degree (Masters, PhD or MD) desired, Bachelors or RN required
- 2-4 years knowledge and experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Grants and Agreements administration and management, preferred
- 2-4 years Medical research project management experience strongly desired, preferably with Department of Defense
- Experience with advanced medical technologies, preferred
- Knowledge of military system, preferred.
- Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
- Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
- Ability to be flexible with changing priorities and available to interact with employees, clients and sponsors of all levels
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in fast-paced, high-pressured environment with strict deadlines and to manage multiple projects
- Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
- Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
