Responsibilities
- The Director, Regional Facility Management plans and directs comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement for the assigned facilities including evaluations and forecasting total maintenance and improvement requirements & expenditures.
- The Director, Regional Facility Management researches and initiates region-wide construction, maintenance, and utility projects that cannot be completed internally.
- Directs financial planning and control including funding requirements for facility operation and maintenance and assists in the development of facility maintenance budgets.
- Coordinates with VP of Design and Regional VP on new construction and expansion projects of facilities.
- Initiates proposals and cost estimates for improvements, major repairs, or replacement of equipment and structures.
- The Director, Regional Facility Management initiates and conducts subordinates' training.
- Approves and inspects the work performed by a facility's maintenance department.
- Reviews and approves cost estimates for capital outlay projects.
- The Director, Regional Facility Management establishes, implements, and monitors preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all facilities within the assigned region.
- Conducts inspections of facilities for compliance to all regulations and guidelines established by the organization or ACA, Life Safety, OSHA, NFPA, and ASHREA.
- Conducts facility evaluations to determine the need for major repair and replacement of facility equipment and systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. Graduation from an accredited vocational training school is desirable.
- Seven (7) years experience managing facility maintenance functions in an institutional or industrial setting such as a correctional facility, hospital, or manufacturing plant and demonstrated knowledge in all areas of facility maintenance including HVAC, electrical, fire suppression systems, building mechanical systems, carpentry, and electricity. Three (3) years of this experience should be in a supervisory capacity which demonstrated the ability to lead and manage diverse work groups. A combination of education and work experience may be taken into consideration based on management's discretion.
- Licenses and/or certifications by known trades such as HVAC, plumbing, or electrical are preferred. Experience in managing multiple sites is also desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to write concise and thorough reports with the ability to translate technical terms to a diverse audience. Must be able to make presentations and train groups on facility management issues.
- Extensive travel with frequent overnight stays is required by position.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
