Responsibilities

Summary

The Senior Development Operations Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure. This role will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless deployment, scalability, and reliability of our applications and services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Senior Development Operations Engineer leads the design, deployment, and management of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Architects and oversees the implementation of advanced CI / CD pipelines to streamline and automate the software delivery process.
  • The Senior Development Operations Engineer proactively monitors and optimizes system performance, reliability, and security across all environments, including production.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams, including development, security, and operations, to ensure alignment with business and technical objectives.
  • The Senior Development Operations Engineer designs and implements advanced logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions to ensure full system observability and rapid incident response.
  • Acts as a senior subject matter expert, driving incident resolution, root cause analysis.
  • The Senior Development Operations Engineer leads the on-call rotation for production support, ensuring mission-critical environments are maintained with minimal downtime.
  • Continuously evaluates and integrates emerging trends and advancements in DevOps, cloud, and automation technologies.
  • The Senior Development Operations Engineer identifies and implements strategic process improvements, driving innovation and operational excellence.
  • Mentors junior DevOps engineers, fostering professional growth and technical development within the team.
  • Performs other high-level duties as assigned to support organizational goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • At least seven (7) years of progressive experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related roles, with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects.
  • United States citizenship required.
  • Ability to receive client’s approval to work on contract required.
  • Must have resided in the US for at least 3 of the last 5 years (military and study abroad included).
  • Expertise in cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure, with a deep understanding of cloud-native architecture and best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, with a focus on automation and process improvement.
  • Expertise of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, including experience in managing complex environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, and related ecosystems.
  • Expertise in monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack.
  • Experience designing and implementing serverless architectures and microservices at scale.
  • Strong leadership in agile methodologies and DevOps cultural practices, with an emphasis on continuous integration and delivery.
  • Advanced understanding of networking concepts, security frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Significant experience in workflow and process automation, with robust coding and development skills.
  • Proficient in database technologies and advanced database management practices.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate across functional teams while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Strong focus on delivering business value, ensuring project success, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Adherence to strict change control, configuration management, and documentation standards.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation tailored to various audiences.
  • Deep business acumen with a strategic understanding of IT’s role in driving business outcomes.
  • Exceptional data management and analytical skills to support informed decision-making.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with advanced software and tools relevant to the role.
  • Ability to excel in dynamic and evolving environments, delivering consistent results under pressure.
  • Working Conditions : Encountered on a regular basis as part of the work this job performs.

  • Requires on-call pager support after standard business hours 24 x 7 on a rotating basis.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch, and reach with hands and arms to install and maintain computer-networking equipment.
  • Close vision at 20 inches or less, ability to identify and distinguish colors to install and maintain computer-networking equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to install and maintain computer-networking equipment.
