I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary :
Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in Washington, DC. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools. The law school is located on the GW campus in the downtown neighborhood familiarly known as Foggy Bottom.
The Associate Program Director, Wellness and Community Engagement is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive wellness programs and initiatives aimed at supporting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of law students. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to create a positive and healthy environment conducive to academic success and personal development within the law school community.
Program Development and Implementation :
- Design, develop, and implement wellness programs, workshops, and events tailored to address the unique stressors and challenges faced by law students. This includes Wellness Week and other programming throughout the semester for the Inns of Court program Wellness or Cultural Competency credits.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals, wellness experts, and student organizations to create a diverse range of initiatives promoting stress management, mindfulness, work-life balance, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with other student-facing departments (Records and Registration, Clinics, Career Services, and Field Placement Office) to ensure the sharing of relevant information to ensure student success.
- Act as subject matter expert for student wellness, accessibility, and inclusion on law school campus;
- Serve as a point of contact for students to access various University support services such as the GW Student Health Center and the Resilience and Wellbeing Center, and acts as a liaison to connect students with external professional counseling services as appropriate.
- Develop metrics and tools to assess the effectiveness of wellness programs and initiatives.
- Collect and analyze data related to wellness program participation, feedback, and outcomes to make informed improvements and adjustments.

Minimum Qualifications :
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
