Job Description Summary :
The GW School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) is recruiting for a School Research Administrator to work in a dynamic and growing research environment. This temporary position focuses on providing research program support for GW Engineering, primarily post-award management on behalf of the research program or an initiative.
GW Engineering excels in research and education in biomedical engineering, cybersecurity, high-performance computing, nanotechnology, aerospace engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, tissue engineering and bio-materials, just to list a few areas of expertise.
In order to support SEAS’s research growth efforts, we are looking for a School Research Administrator who is experienced, energetic, proactive, and possesses strong customer service skills with all levels of faculty, students, and staff to join our team.
This School Research Administrator (SRA) reports to a Research Grants Manager (RGM), and will provide primarily post-award support for a portfolio of several departments.
The SRA responsibilities include :
- Is responsible for post-award project administration, including maintaining shared tracking databases, folders, and guidance documents.
- Reviews expenditures and charges, including corporate card charges, requisitions, purchase orders, subaward and subcontract agreements, invoice payments, payroll, stipends, and tuition benefits for allowability of expenditures and conformance to sponsor guidelines, and contract, or grant application requirements.
- Updates budget projections, personnel effort tracking, and other shared files for a portfolio of departments.
- Performs portfolio reviews with faculty on a monthly or bi-monthly basis to review award expenditures for accuracy, update spend plans and personnel effort distributions, gather information about new funding anticipated, and other portfolio updates, as appropriate; follows up with portfolio manager as needed.
- Responds to requests from OSP, other central offices, and SEAS staff and faculty; works with portfolio manager, or escalates, as appropriate.
- Serves as an active communication liaison between GW’s central research office (OSP) and the SEAS faculty; responsible for keeping abreast of changes in policies and procedure.
Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
