POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Assistant Coordinator for TGP NEST Empowerment Center
Reports to: TGP NEST Empowerment Center Coordinator
Schedule: 20 Avg Hours Per Week, Part-Time/Non-exempt
Hours: Monday - Thursday 2pm-7pm
Occasional additional hours when field trips occur outside of regular NEST operations.
Salary Range: $20,000-25,000/year

Job Purpose and Scope:
The NEST Assistant Coordinator provides consistent assistance to the NEST Coordinator directly before, during and shortly after students attend regular programming. The assistant helps with the functions of the program, while collaborating with the Coordinator to ensure the program offers trauma-informed care to not only students, but also volunteers and other staff members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or related field. Experience may be substituted for degree
- Experience with at-risk, economically-disadvantaged, LBGTQ , and/or housing distressed youth preferred
- Possess or have the ability to acquire standard First-Aid and CPR certification
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Minor lifting and ability to climb stairs required in the two-story building
- Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with Georgetown Independent School District policy
Key Responsibilities:
Team Logistics and Participation
- Attends in-house trainings, as well as some given by community partners, to ensure the NEST remains a trauma-informed space
- Is able to give tours of the NEST, speak to volunteers and give presentations on the program; is up-to-date on student attendance data
- Reports to the Coordinator with any concerns about student safety in a brief, end-of-the-night meeting once students are gone
- Maintains professional, helpful relationships with the Coordinator, volunteers, school staff, TGP staff and board members, donors, parents and any other NEST visitors
- Can fill-in for the Coordinator on days they are unable to be at the NEST
- Assists the Coordinator in planning daily NEST activities, ensuring meal calendars are complete each semester and cultivating a strong volunteer directory
Daily NEST Operations
- Forms strong, healthy relationships with students
- Assists the Coordinator in data collection and intake procedures, including written forms and conducting one-on-one sessions with students
- Assists in preparing and implementing daily NEST programming
- Leads students in program activities that develop life and social-emotional skills
- Assists and instructs volunteers
- Other duties as assigned
