Overview :
This key position reports to the Vice President and Corporate Controller. The controller will be responsible for coordinating, administering, and controlling financial operations of the Club. Responsibilities include the coordination and review of all accounting activities to ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded; corresponding reconciliations, financial analysis, and recommendations; review of accounts payable and accounts receivable activities; preparation of annual operating budget and cash flow projections, preparation of various monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, assist with preparation of external audits. In addition, you will assist the Corporate Director of Human Resources with human resources function to include administration of Club policies / procedures, payroll, time & attendance, benefits, and federal, state and local regulations.
Required Education :
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Business, OR 3 years progressive accounting experience in the Hospitality Industry
Required Skills :
Minimum 3 years hospitality industry experience; Country Club experience a plus.Strong management and communication skills.Excellent organizational skills.Critical thinking capacity, with ability to think high level yet execute at the detail level.Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage competing priorities, with flexibility to work on a variety of activities across the various departments.Ability to take ownership, work independently, and produce accurate and timely results.Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively across functions to achieve Club’s goals and objectives.Job Responsibilities :
Manage, as a leader and mentor, the day-to-day operations of the club's accounting staff, ensuring that an accurate and timely close process is followed.Serve as hands-on accounting leader related to all aspects of monthly financial reporting, ensuring completion of timely and accurate financial statements for reporting to the General Manager and the Management Team.Analyze department duties, implementing new or revised processes and procedures, as necessary, to strengthen the control environment and develop more efficient procedures.Oversight of the member billing and collections processManage, monitor, and control the club's cash flows, assuring that revenues are properly recorded and promptly deposited, and that timing of cash disbursements is properly managed.Monitor the physical inventory process for the pro shop as well as food and beverage Serve as the human resources representative at the ClubWork closely with external advisors, including preparation of work papers for auditors and banking personnel.Lead and or assist in the annual budget process.Assist the General Manager and Department heads in the weekly forecasting process.Review actual results against budget, identifying variances and offering insight and analysis into these variances.Manage research of technical accounting issues, ensuring that accounting policies comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Perform other Club duties, such as renewal of liquor licenses; filing of sales, property and other taxes; insurance renewals and broker reviews; extra monitoring related to member / guest outings; etc.Typical Physical / Mental Demands :
Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 20 pounds.Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.Salary range : $ 65,000 - $80,000 depending on qualifications.
