This includes diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting routine maintenance, and ensuring all equipment operates efficiently to support construction projects. The role requires expertise in fleet vehicle repair, a strong understanding of concrete equipment, and strict adherence to safety standards. The Mechanic collaborates with supervisors to minimize equipment downtime and ensure projects are completed on schedule.

The role requires expertise in fleet vehicle repair, a strong understanding of concrete equipment, and strict adherence to safety standards. The Mechanic collaborates with supervisors to minimize equipment downtime and ensure projects are completed on schedule.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on ready-mixed concrete trucks and other equipment.
- Maintain equipment logs.
- Retrieve and repair disabled vehicles.
- Follow all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- In-person attendance is required.
- Possess and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing and descending ladders.
- The position will require work outside of normal business hours.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Efficient and safe maintenance of vehicles, as demonstrated by training and experience, in:
- Diesel engines.
- Drivetrains, including transmissions, clutches, and axles.
- Truck systems, including lubrication, cooling, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, steering, and exhaust.
- Brakes. Possess ASE brake certification or obtain within six months of hire.
- Welding and burning skills, with certificate preferred.
- Possess and maintain mechanic's tools.
- Strong interpersonal, math, and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone.
- Represent The Gerken Companies to customers in a professional manner, supporting the company's goals.
- Team player, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Proficiency in utilizing Cummins Insight, WABCO Tool Box, and Allison DOC programs.
- Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school is required.
- Completion of a vocational training program in automotive technology or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in automotive repair and maintenance preferred.
