What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deli Associate position at The Giant Company?
The primary purpose of this position is:
Responsible for handling and possessing knowledge of all deli products.
Receives, processes, prepares, wraps, slices, weighs, marks and packages product. Also responsible for stocking shelves, cases and bins, while maintaining neat attractive conditions and properly signed displays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Primary accountability for specific functions and results)
1. Providing quality customer service is an essential component of every position within Giant/Martin's Food Stores. Each position serves its own group of customers, which may consist of consumers, co-workers, vendors and business associates. As much care should be given to handling our internal "customers", as the ultimate consumer.
2. Receives, processes, prepares, wraps, slices, weighs, marks and packages products. These
activities involve the use of power equipment and lifting product which typically weighs less than 20 lbs.
3. Maintain proper shelf, case and display conditions, to include: stocking, cleaning, straightening
and rotating product, which typically weighs less than 20 lbs.
4. Maintain proper cooler conditions to include: rotating and organizing cases of product
(frequently weighing more than 20 lbs and occasionally weighing up to 60 lbs) and cleaning.
5. Maintain proper prep area conditions, to include: cleaning and sanitizing of work surfaces,
utensils and equipment.
6. Adhere to all federal, state and local regulations, as they apply to the deli area.
7. Maintain safe and clean sales floor conditions, to include: sweeping and mopping.
8. Provide exceptionally friendly and courteous customer service. Must be able to answer
questions, make recommendations and promote products through suggestive selling.
9. Must dress according to company policy and maintain a neat, clean appearance at all times.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May be designated to direct and supervise the functions and activities of the Deli Department in
the absence of the Deli Manager.
2. Conduct competitive price checks.
3. Other duties as assigned by management.
