What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Assistant Teachers Needed to Support Amazing Students with Moderate Special Needs position at The Gifford School?
We currently have Assistant Teacher openings for the 2025 summer session.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience with children/adolescents in a special education setting preferred
Ability to develop an understanding of special needs population and therapeutic milieu
Proven interpersonal skills
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Strong communication skills
Schedule:
June 27, 2025 through July 29, 2025
7:30am-3:30pm; Monday–Thursday 7:30am-3:00pm; Friday
Responsibilities:
Provide in-class support to teachers and students
Assist teachers with lesson & activity planning & prep work, as requested
With guidance from a classroom teacher and at times independently, work with students on one-to-one basis or in small groups
Facilitate and lead students during transitions, lunch, electives, & group activities
Provide one-on-one support to students in or outside the classroom in order to meet their needs
Assist with facilitating off campus school trips
Demonstrate respect for diversity among our staff and student body and promote an atmosphere which values this diversity
