the girl & the fig is opening a new concept in Glen Ellen and is looking for a qualified Chef ready to take the next step in their career.
Ideal candidates will share our dedication to great food and hospitality, have experience in a dynamic environment, and have strong cooking, leadership, and management skills. Spanish language skills are helpful but not required. This is a great position for someone who is looking to gain experience and advance their career as a Chef.
We are looking for a Chef who:
-Will collaborate with the culinary leadership team to contribute to overall menu development
-Has a positive attitude and the drive to work as a team
-A willingness to learn and ability to work independently
-Is able to maintain cleanliness and organization
-Is self-motivated and dedicated to quality and professionalism
-Has a background and/or interest in sourcing, sustainability, and seasonal cuisine
This position will require:
-Experience of 5-7 years in a kitchen and minimum of 2 years in a Sous Chef role
-Ability to provide or complete Manager Food Handler Certification and renew as necessary
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, recipe books, and procedural manuals
-Ability to manage food and labor costs, put together reports and food audits, and manage labor and food cost numbers
-Computer literacy and proficiency in Excel and Word
The physical requirements for this positions are:
-Ability to lift up to 50lbs and regularly move items between 10-20lbs
-Ability to stand for long periods of time
-Proper knife handling skills and techniques
-An acute sense of taste and smell
This is a full-time, management position with a starting annual salary range of $68,640 to $82,223.
