The Glen at Scripps Ranch is searching for a Custodian to support the Environmental Services team!

shift days/hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6:30pm

Custodians work to make sure that all types of buildings are neat, clean, free from clutter and are safe. Custodians spend their days picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, or using industrial cleaning equipment to clean floors, cleaning and stocking bathrooms, making sure buildings are secure, cleaning windows, and minor maintenance. While the majority of the work is inside buildings, some work will involve keeping lawns or sidewalks clean, tending to ornamental gardens, trash removal and parking lot cleaning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous janitorial experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Previous floor maintenance experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of floor care procedures, techniques, and supplies preferred.
• Willingness to perform routines, repetitive tasks.
• Ability to drive utility vehicles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS:
Moderate to heavy physical effort 95% of the work day. Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, stand, and walk for up to up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to stoop and work from a kneeling position, perform repetitive bending, reaching and stretching. Must be able to operate a vacuum, work in confined spaces around furniture and breakable objects, and have constant contact with Residents. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. When lifting loads over 50 lbs., use two or more people. It is your responsibility to ask for assistance. Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment generally weighing up to 300 lbs. over tiled and carpeted surfaces for long distances. May be exposed to communicable diseases including HIV and Hepatitis B viruses; industrial and household chemicals; offensive odors; and elevated heat levels.
