Summary: 

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to Members and their guests at the Glenridge on Palmer Ranch (GPR) in a welcoming and Member-centric atmosphere.

  

The Server is responsible for providing excellent service to the Members of The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch (GPR) and for creating a positive dining experience.  A Server enthusiastically greets and seats members and their guests.  Makes verbal presentations of specials of-the-day.  Takes and delivers food and beverage orders.  Displays dessert cart and provides coffee and dessert service.  Accurately bills food and beverage orders by getting proper name and account numbers and charging appropriately.  Offers members and guests an appropriate farewell as they leave the restaurant or banquet. The Server is responsible for ensuring high quality dining and catering wait services for Members in a Member centric environment.

Bartender Responsibilities:

  • Greets community members, provides prompt and courteous service, takes orders and delivers the orders to the table using proper etiquette.
  • Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to patrons of bar, following standard recipes. Mixes ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks.  Serves wine and draft or bottled beer.
  • Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive display.
  • May slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • May prepare appetizers, such as pickles, cheese, and cold meats.
  • Collects soiled dishes and glasses from the table and returns them to the dishwashing area.
  • Cleans up at the close of business hours.
  • Is responsible for sanitary and safe handling of food, beverages, and equipment.
  • Assures that guests of Members are of legal age.
  • Refuses or discontinues service to a Member or guest suspected of being overly intoxicated.
  • Responsible for inventory control: orders bar supplies and bever­ages, keeps track of inventory, and works within allocated budget. Submit inventory control and order reports to Dining Room Manager for review and approval.
  • Provides support to main dining staff during times of need, as required
  • Uses good judgment in determining needs of the company and in maintaining information delivery in conformance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies
  • Keeps current on all changes in their area of responsibility, particularly regulatory changes as they relate to their position.
  • Uses good judgment in determining the needs of Members and working with the different departments and in maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of Members’ PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records information as well.
  • Other various duties as assigned.

Server Responsibilities:

Prepares and/or is responsible for the preparation/delivery of food for members and guests.  
1.    Be in the scheduled work area, ready to work at the scheduled time.  
2.    Arrives in proper, clean, and pressed uniform.  
3.    Checks with supervisor for station assignment and side work.  
4.    Checks for shift announcements.  
5.    Checks station for proper set up and cleanliness.  
6.    Attends pre-service for daily menu information and announcements.  Knows major ingredients and prep details of all food items being served during the meal period.  
7.    May be asked to assist with Catered events on an as needed basis.  
8.    Formally greets Member promptly (by name if possible) with a smile who is seated at assigned table, provides prompt and courteous service, takes orders and delivers the orders to the table using proper dining room etiquette.  
9.    Takes beverage and food order and fills, according to accepted procedure.  
10.    Acts as a food runner or expeditor as needed; helps other servers and runners who need assistance.  
11.    Keeps tables maintained by removing dirty plates and silverware, empty wrappers, and creamers from table and returns them to the dishwashing area. Refills water glass, as necessary.  
12.    Within two bites or two minutes after entree is served, check back to see if everything is satisfactory. If there are any problems, take the necessary steps to solve them.  
13.    When walking through the dining room, constantly look for (and see) any area that needs attention.  
14.    Do station side work, then check with supervisor or manager for additional side work.  
15.    Cleans the dining room at the end of each meal. 
16.    Performs side jobs and additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Promotes clean, safe, and neat environment for members, self, and staff.  
17.    When working as Host/Hostess responsible for greeting members and their guests as they enter the main dining room, escorting them to their table, providing them with a menu, and provide direction to the servers and runners assigned to that table. 
18.    Follows and complies with health and safety departmental safe job procedures.  
19.    Attends and participates in all in-service programs. 
20.    Uses good judgment in determining the needs of Members and working with the different departments and in maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.  
21.    Maintains knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures regarding food service practices. 
22.    Maintains confidentiality of Members’ PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records information as well. 
23.    Other various duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent and have successful completion of a school of Bartending. At least one (1) year experience as a Bartender required.
  • Must be skilled in making a variety of cocktails and highballs and be knowledgeable of wines and liquors.
  • Must possess math skills necessary to take inventory and order products based on consumption.
  • Experience as a server or wait staff preferred but not required. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • Knowledge of processes for providing customer service, assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards and evaluation of customer satisfaction preferred. 
  • Proficiency in understanding of computer software as it relates to the job. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be empathetic, enthusiastic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.  
  • Must be well organized and can work with limited direction, take initiative, and can plan and carry out responsibilities, organizing own schedule and duties to complete responsibilities.
