Position Summary:
The Sanitation Facilities Technician is responsible for waste disposal, garbage collection and recycling activities in an efficient manner for The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch (GPR) campus.
Responsibilities:
- Follows daily schedule for garbage and recycle collection
- Appropriately disposes of campus waste at main collection site
- Follows guidelines for recycling disposal
- Cleans collection receptacles and trailers
- Empties dog waste receptacles
- Completes documentation related to collection activities
- Conducts preventative maintenance on equipment used and notifies Building Services Director of malfunctions and repair needs and/or equipment replacement in timely manner
- Assists in emergency situations as requested or observed
- Properly uses personal protective equipment in all aspects of job performance
- Maintains a safe working environment through prevention of accidents; adheres to universal precautions
- Knowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policy; participates as assigned in fire and disaster drills
- Attends all scheduled in-services
- Understands and follows all regulatory and facility policies
- Maintains confidentiality of members’ PHI (Protected Health Information)
- Other various duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have at least an eighth (8th) grade education, High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year experience in a similar position preferred.
- Must be able to read and understand printed instructions
- Must be able to communicate effectively with members and staff.
- Must be able to operate machinery needed to perform various tasks
- Highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be empathetic, enthusiastic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population
- Must be well organized and can work with limited direction, take initiative, and can plan and carry out responsibilities, organizing own schedule and duties to complete responsibilities
