Position Summary:
The Server is responsible for providing excellent service to the Members of The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch (GPR) and for creating a positive dining experience. A Server enthusiastically greets and seats members and their guests. Makes verbal presentations of specials of-the-day. Takes and delivers food and beverage orders. Displays dessert cart and provides coffee and dessert service. Accurately bills food and beverage orders by getting proper name and account numbers and charging appropriately. Offers members and guests an appropriate farewell as they leave the restaurant or banquet. The Server is responsible for ensuring high quality dining and catering wait services for Members in a Member centric environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepares and/or is responsible for the preparation/delivery of food for members and guests.
2. Be in the scheduled work area, ready to work at the scheduled time.
3. Arrives in proper, clean, and pressed uniform.
4. Checks with supervisor for station assignment and side work.
5. Checks for shift announcements.
6. Checks station for proper set up and cleanliness.
7. Attends pre-service for daily menu information and announcements. Knows major ingredients and prep details of all food items being served during the meal period.
8. May be asked to assist with Catered events on an as needed basis.
9. Formally greets Member promptly (by name if possible) with a smile who is seated at assigned table, provides prompt and courteous service, takes orders and delivers the orders to the table using proper dining room etiquette.
10. Takes beverage and food order and fills, according to accepted procedure.
11. Acts as a food runner or expeditor as needed; helps other servers and runners who need assistance.
12. Keeps tables maintained by removing dirty plates and silverware, empty wrappers, and creamers from table and returns them to the dishwashing area. Refills water glass, as necessary.
13. Within two bites or two minutes after entrée is served, check back to see if everything is satisfactory. If there are any problems, take the necessary steps to solve them.
14. When walking through the dining room, constantly look for (and see) any area that needs attention.
15. Do station side work, then check with supervisor or manager for additional side work.
16. Cleans the dining room at the end of each meal.
17. Performs side jobs and additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Promotes clean, safe, and neat environment for members, self, and staff.
18. When working as Host/Hostess responsible for greeting members and their guests as they enter the main dining room, escorting them to their table, providing them with a menu, and provide direction to the servers and runners assigned to that table.
19. Follows and complies with health and safety departmental safe job procedures.
20. Attends and participates in all in-service programs.
21. Uses good judgment in determining the needs of Members and working with the different departments and in maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
22. Maintains knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures regarding food service practices.
Qualifications:
1. Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent. Experience as a server or wait staff preferred but not required. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
2. Willing to work a flexible schedule.
3. Knowledge of processes for providing customer service, assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards and evaluation of customer satisfaction preferred.
4. Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal food sanitation regulations preferred.
5. Comfortable in receiver direction and supervision to dining staff.
6. Skill in understanding of computer software as it relates to the job.
7. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
9. Must be empathetic, enthusiastic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
