Investment Team
The Investment Team is an integral part of GEAPP. It serves the dual function of 1) supporting country, regional, and solutions teams in preparing, structuring, executing, and monitoring program-related investments (PRIs) and 2) developing the investment strategy and providing portfolio oversight to ensure alignment with that strategy.

Role of Investment Associate
Role
The Investment Associate plays an important role in supporting the full transaction life cycle of investments, within the Investment Team and in partnership with the regional and solutions teams, by:
- Supporting with the landscaping, evaluation, structuring, and execution of transactions (grants and investments) in line with GEAPP's investment strategy and in partnership with country and solutions teams.
- Supporting with the design and globally consistent roll-out of GEAPP’s investment strategy, investment policy, capital allocation model, and investment process.
- Conducting analysis on renewable energy market trends, innovative structures, transactions, and approaches to meet GEAPP’s impact targets.
- Supporting with the landscaping, evaluation, structuring, and execution of transactions (grants and investments) in line with GEAPP's investment strategy and in partnership with country and solutions teams.
- Working with country / regional teams and solution teams to identify opportunities that align with the applicable investment strategy.
- Supporting senior members of the team to carry out full due diligence of potential grants and investments, including evaluating the proposed business model, investment partners, management team, impact/charitability factors, financial sustainability, risk factors, etc.
- Developing and presenting investment memos for management and Investment Committee approval.
- Supporting senior members of the team to handle investment structuring and negotiations of terms and conditions, to successful execution of the transaction
- Supporting the portfolio investees in a value-added, proactive manner to position investments to deliver on impact goals and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Supporting with the design and globally consistent roll-out of GEAPP’s investment strategy, investment policy, capital allocation model, and investment process, specifically:
- Supporting with the design of the investment strategy, investment policy, capital allocation model, and investment process, to cater to organisational needs and maximise the catalytic role GEAPP can play as a philanthropic investor.
- Providing organizational support to the team, including capital deployment analysis, portfolio recalibration, preparation of written narratives and analyses of GEAPP’s investment strategy execution.
- Preparing and providing strategic input into the teams’ communications with the Investment Committee and the Board on investment-related matters.
- Conducting analysis on renewable energy market trends, innovative structures, transactions, and approaches to meet GEAPP’s impact targets., including:
- Tracking and assessing market trends, innovative structures, and transactions to inform investment and grant activities.
- Collaborating with country / regional teams, solution teams, and Alliance partners to identify opportunities and trends in GEAPP’s core markets and sectors to support strategy deployment.
- Developing working-level relationships with and leveraging the Alliance’s partners to support capital mobilization in GEAPP’s core markets.
- Transactional Experience: Previous investment or grant program design experience; strong analytical skills; due diligence expertise a plus; understanding of blended finance instruments.
- Energy, Climate, or Infrastructure Expertise: Specific experience and expertise in these sectors; strong interest in and ability to take initiative in developing related products and instruments.
- Social Impact Commitment: Strong commitment to assessing and investing to achieve social impact.
- Communication and Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal abilities and communication skills; ability to present ideas cogently; team-oriented approach.
- Flexibility: Collaborative working style; comfort working with uncertainty and accelerating project development when needed.
- Undergraduate or Master's/advanced degree in finance or economics, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
- Experience executing impact-driven investments and programs.
- Experience and expertise in energy, climate, or infrastructure are preferred.
- Strong analytical and due diligence skills are preferred.
- Entrepreneurial mindset to spot opportunities and initiate action.
- Strategic mindset to spot critical issues and recommend creative solutions.
- Ability to multi-task; comfort with a changing work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
