Position Summary
Research & Data Manager, Kansas City, MO

Your Responsibilities Include
Research & Data Strategy:

Design and implement research initiatives to evaluate program effectiveness, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making. Project management with external research partners when needed.

Develop methodologies to measure the impact of CarePortal’s programs and initiatives.

Collaborate with leadership and field teams to determine research priorities and align findings with organizational goals.

Present research findings through reports, dashboards, and presentations to inform internal teams and external stakeholders.
Data Governance & Integrity:

Implement and enforce data governance policies to maintain data quality, consistency, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Establish and monitor data standards, processes, and best practices to support organizational objectives.

Ensure data integrity, security and ethical use in research and reporting.
Database & Research Management:
-
Oversee the collection, storage, and organization of research and operational data.
-
Design, maintain, and optimize databases for efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis.

Oversee database upgrades, migrations, and maintenance to ensure system reliability.

Monitor data quality, identifying and resolving inconsistencies or errors.

Develop and execute data validation and cleansing processes.
Data Integration & Accessibility:

Consolidate data from diverse sources to provide a unified and comprehensive view of organizational performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement data integration solutions.

Manage user access to research and data systems based on established permissions and roles.

Develop research-backed insights that support field operations, product enhancements and strategic initiatives.
Data Analysis & Reporting:

Perform data analysis to extract actionable insights and trends that inform decision-making.

Create research-based reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate data findings to stakeholders.

Provide analytical support to internal teams, helping them interpret data and apply findings to decision-making.
Data Modeling:

Oversee the design and maintenance of data models providing effective visualizations of organizational information.

Support the development of scalable data structures to meet evolving needs.
Collaboration & Leadership:

Partner with leadership, field teams, and business units to identify research and data needs.

Lead the Research and Data team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills & Requirements You Bring to the Organization
Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree in data science, Research Methodology, Information Systems, or a related field.
-
Or five years of relevant data experience.
Leadership Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years managing teams, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, develop, and lead others.
Technical & Analytical Skills:
-
Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL), data warehousing, data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Superset), data analysis software, cloud-based data systems and platforms. (AWS, Azure).

Strong ability to interpret data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions leading to actionable insights.
Research & Problem-Solving Skills:

Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research and applying findings to operational improvements.

Ability to design and implement research studies that measure program effectiveness and impact.

Effective troubleshooting of data-related issues with a focus on resolution.
Communication & Project Management Skills:

Skilled in translating complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience in organizing and managing research and data projects from conception to execution.

Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations.
Preferred skills:
