Position Summary
The Regional Manager, Health and Safety will provide strong leadership in overseeing a team of regional health and safety specialists. This role is responsible for guiding and influencing franchisees to ensure they consistently adhere to GLS’s quality assurance program. The Regional Manager will work to maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for children in the program, while ensuring full compliance with all relevant health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and support a diverse team to achieve departmental goals and foster professional growth.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and open dialogue.
- Cultivate a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Identify and implement initiatives that improve team performance and operational efficiency.
- Empower team members to take ownership of their portfolio and projects, supporting them to gain confidence and autonomy in their roles.
- Collaborate with Regional Directors to support respective regions while focusing on how to best support the schools and team members in achieving performance goals.
- Facilitate franchisee training within respective regions to influence and educate GSL stakeholders on the importance of maintaining health and safety compliance and practices to mitigate risk.
- Actively engage in GSL franchisee and/or director training; present in market and regional meetings and host Teams calls to message and reinforce the importance of health and safety compliance. Provide oversight of health and safety training for new Schools opening in their region.

- Coach and develop skill set of health and safety specialists to better assess and support portfolio performance, travel with team members to observe QA process in action and role model to further develop personal growth.
- Coach team members to foster professional growth, identify strengths, and address areas for improvement.
- Provide regular feedback regarding their performance that inspires team members to continue to develop skills, focus on continuous improvement, encouraging open dialogue and knowledge sharing.
Decision-Making and Problem-Solving
- Make informed, data-driven decisions to navigate challenges and maximize opportunities.
- Analyze and address issues in a timely manner, demonstrating adaptability in complex situations.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends and risks within respective regions, markets and schools. Create plans to reduce the identified risks. Use data to support decision making and impact positive change in School performance.
Experience and Competencies
Minimum Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working in an early childhood program/industry/or setting in a leadership role or experience influencing, enforcing and measuring compliance standards.
- 2 years of experience managing a team and/or managing multiple sites
- Effective inter-personal and relationship building skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, non-verbal).
- Ability to lead, influence and drive meaningful change while managing conflict efficiently and professionally.
- Strong organizational, presentation and time management skills.
- Knowledgeable in state childcare licensing regulations across the system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting technology.
- Travel up to 50%.
Highly Desired
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education preferred, or related field.
- Franchise experience is desired
There will be periodic requirements to travel for in-person events, at the discretion of your manager or the requirement of the company.
