Team Summary and Functions

Securities Settlements team is the engine room that facilitates every securities movement for the firm and its clients. We make initial public offerings, institutional & private wealth client trading and market making possible at Goldman Sachs. Our team consists of 45 people globally, spread across 4 key locations: Tokyo, Bengaluru, London, and New York. Almost all our projects are cross-location and cross-function, meaning we work directly with thousands of users and interface with hundreds of systems across the firm. We build for a wide range of functions including, clearance and settlement of securities, posting to firm's ledgers, and interacting with external clearing houses and agent banks.

Job Summary

We are embarking on a multi-year greenfield initiative to re-architect and improve our existing suite of applications by using best-in-class technologies to provide higher scalability, improved resiliency, and reduced time to market.

We're looking for a passionate and talented software engineer with 1-4 years of relevant experience to join our New York City office. This role will provide a unique opportunity to develop your technical skills and learn our business and its functions. Teamwork, partnering with stakeholders, product ownership, working with massive volumes of data are all aspects where you could make an impact or further develop your skills.

What will you do?

• Build scalable solutions leveraging industry leading technologies for processing millions of transactions per day, optimizing for speed and efficiency.
• Learn about the nuances of securities movements and settlement functions, along with various regulatory requirements across global financial markets.
• Collaborate with various teams including Operations, Traders, and Engineers to solve intricate challenges and develop solutions to optimize business revenues.
• Skills in data processing technologies like Apache Kafka or similar streaming technologies.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (eg. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to ensure robust and reliable application delivery.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• 1-4 years of experience in Software Engineering, including proficiency in object-oriented programming languages like Java or C , and relevant frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with UNIX systems and scripting languages like Perl or Python.
• Experience with Web services (RESTful) and ORM frameworks.
• Proficient in relational databases, with ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.
• Experience with Data Lakehouse like Snowflake.
