The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on, organized, and proactive Project Manager to oversee the full-cycle buildout of new retail locations — from lease signing through grand opening. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you’ll collaborate directly with the CEO, CFO, Company VP's and Directors, while managing vendors, contractors, and local municipalities across multiple states. You’ll travel regularly and work independently, taking full ownership of timelines, budgets, compliance, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to new store locations following lease execution (NY, MA, IN, NH, ME, SW FL).
- Evaluate property conditions and oversee buildout progress onsite.
- Source, negotiate with, and manage local vendors and contractors, including general contractors, painters, flooring installers, and signage professionals.
- Obtain and review architectural layouts from landlords; coordinate with our design partner (Heather Allen Concepts) to finalize furniture, layout, and finishes.
- Manage all permitting, inspections, and compliance processes with local municipalities.
- Coordinate construction efforts: walls, flooring, paint, ADA-compliant bathrooms, doors, lighting, and other buildout elements.
- Order furniture, fixtures, supplies, and inventory with CEO approval.
- Set up essential services such as internet, locks, fire extinguishers, exit signage, and security elements.
- Ensure full store readiness leading up to Grand Opening, including coordination of Grand Opening even with Director of Marketing, and VPSM.
- Obtain Certificate of Occupancy and complete all landlord and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain project timelines and budgets (typical buildout: $40K–$80K; 6–8 weeks from lease to open).
- Provide clear, consistent updates to executive leadership throughout each project.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in project management, preferably within retail, construction, or franchise operations.
- Proven ability to oversee multiple buildouts simultaneously across different locations.
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Solid understanding of permitting, compliance, and ADA requirements.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with strong time management.
- Self-starter who thrives working independently while keeping stakeholders in the loop.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
- Comfortable collaborating directly with C-level executives and external partners.
Bonus Points For:
- Experience in franchise expansion, commercial real estate, or retail construction.
- Pre-existing vendor relationships in our target markets.
- Background in interior layout planning or FF&E coordination.
