Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Paralegal to join our national Restructuring practice. In this role, you will play an integral part in managing complex Chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings, and related litigation. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-driven, and capable of working independently while ensuring court deadlines are met and documents are filed appropriately.
Core Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage key deadlines using docketing tools, ensuring compliance with court-mandated timelines.
- Draft, review, and electronically submit legal documents, including motions and pleadings, to federal bankruptcy courts (via CM/ECF).
- Update case files, calendars, and tracking systems for ongoing matters.
- Assist attorneys with understanding and applying local rules and court practices.
- Support the preparation of initial Chapter 11 filings, such as first-day motions, schedules, and statements.
- Help coordinate hearings, including arranging appearances and preparing necessary documents.
- Review creditor claims, objections, and other filings for accuracy and relevance.
- Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and hearing binders, both digitally and in physical form.
- Assist with the preparation of documents related to debtor-in-possession financing, asset sales, and confirmation plans.
- Ensure familiarity with bankruptcy court processes, including the U.S. Trustee’s fee guidelines.
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss ongoing matters.
- Perform additional duties as required by the team.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- A minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience
- Knowledge of e-filing systems, including CM/ECF, Pacer, and state/local bankruptcy court platforms
- Experience with docket management tools such as Docket Alarm
- Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours to meet critical deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in legal document review
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical ability
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential matters
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Paralegal certification
- Experience in bankruptcy, financial litigation, or restructuring
