The Industrial Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing processes and providing essential support to ensure operations are optimized, cost-effective, and safe, while adhering to product specifications and quality standards. This position will collaborate closely with managers, supervisors, team leads, and shop personnel across the office, production, and logistics departments to implement improvements and innovative techniques.
What will your day look like?
- Plan, lead, facilitate, and coach improvement projects from inception to completion. Utilize lean manufacturing tools and best practices to identify root causes and actionable items, with the objective of enhancing efficiency, productivity, reducing downtime, and addressing defect issues.
- Facilitate collaborative efforts by bringing teams together to analyze processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes. Utilize methodologies such as Kaizen Events, GEMBA Walks, and other Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) scenarios to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Leverage our ERP System to develop Work Definitions that link labor and overhead costs to the production process. Additionally, manage production and scheduling attributes to ensure efficient planning and control the flow of materials throughout the assembly process.
- Establish production labor standards through comprehensive time studies and observations, work combination tables, workflow diagrams, process layouts, material handling, and effectively standardizing machine utilization.
- Coordinate with various departments on plant layouts, process design, and equipment procurement. Serve as a liaison to the New Process Integration (NPI) team to ensure seamless integration of new products, processes, and production equipment.
- Evaluate current logistics processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Implement lean methodologies and best practices to streamline operations.
- Collect and analyze data related to logistics performance, such as delivery times, inventory levels, and transportation costs. Use this data to make informed decisions and drive improvements projects in collaboration with the Supply Chain Division.
- Training employees on new processes, tools, and best practices to ensure smooth implementation and adherence.
What will you bring to the table?
- BS in Engineering or equivalent training.
- 3 years of plant operations experience.
- Fluent computer skills in Microsoft and AutoCAD. Oracle, RedZone, or similar program experience a plus.
- Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools such as Kanban, 5S, visual control, cellular manufacturing, single piece flow along with leading kaizen events.
- Simultaneously handles multiple projects and duties, prioritizing as needed.
- Bring forward new technical insights based upon their original ideas and create new innovative approaches to solve problems.
- Develop skills in partnering with and coaching others.
- Use mastery and data to seek out non-obvious project and technology connections and anticipate technical issues.
- Makes sound and timely decisions when dealing with uncertainty.
- Actively contributes to the development of team goals and works toward the accomplishment of those goals.
- Develop skills to anticipate and communicate issues and drive to decisions with appropriate communication to key stakeholders
- Find and review all project documentation to provide recommendation for next steps.
- Demonstrates knowledge of concepts, facts, and principles of subject matter and continues to develop expertise.
- Uses collaborative problem-solving skills to generate solutions.
- Coach and train junior members of the organization
