Test Inspector – 3rd Shift
Position Summary
Perform a variety of duties primarily involving a normal range of simulated operational testing of the Company's line of electric motor or engine-driven pumps and adjustments or correction of minor malfunctions as needed to ensure performance of final pump assembly and to meet specified standards or customer requirements using a variety of test liquids.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Work from work orders, wiring diagrams, specifications, test requirements, engine operational data, other written or verbal information. Use common hand tools, test instruments and special test equipment.
- Operate hoist.
- Make a variety of power supply and test instrumentation setups according to type and model of product involved. Hipot before and after testing as required. Check for proper rotation.
- Make proper connections including grounding of unit as required.
- Perform pressure tests for seal, gasket leaks; check oil levels, noisy bearings and gears, volutes for holes and cracks.
- See that relief and check valves or other protective devices work properly. Maintain required pressure on "repair" volutes. Make observations; take accurate and required readings and measurements from appropriate gauging and recording instruments.
- Must be able to work with various solvents. Detect and report faulty equipment, materials or unusual conditions. Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- Must be able to work with/operate gasoline and diesel engines.
- Follows established production procedures and instructions.
- Make visual checks of components for apparent damage, defects or others that would result in test performance malfunctions.
- Perform repairs and reassembly of items or components in proper manner prior to or during start up operations.
- Set aside units requiring inspection.
- Promptly complete all rejection notifications, record all preliminary and final test data, record time, production, test data on proper form.
- Assists and supports production personnel as needed.
- Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant concerns. Identifies problems and provides suggestions.
- Maintain work area(s) as assigned and office equipment utilized in a clean and proper manner. Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials or unusual conditions to proper supervision.
- Meet deadlines & efficiencies.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Completes reports and documents accurately and timely as required.
Education/Certification
High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience Required
At least three (3) years of experience in operating manufacturing equipment.
Required Knowledge
Understanding of basic principles of machine operation.
Understanding of production standards and procedures.
Understanding of manufacturing setting.
Skills/Abilities
Quality orientation and attentive to detail.
Good manual dexterity.
Cooperative and willing to assist others.
Ability to closely follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position
Medium work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly.
Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
Reaching, bending, stretching, lifting, pushing and pulling.
Working Conditions
Typical manufacturing environment with fluctuating temperatures.
Exposure to fumes, chemicals and other typical factory hazards.
Occasionally working with high voltage electricity in close proximity to water.
