About the Role
The Gowanus Group is seeking a Junior Estimator for our headquarters in Brooklyn, NY. As a Junior Estimator, you will assist in all estimating tasks that ensure projects are built within budget and meet all requirements. Your primary responsibility includes assisting in bid preparation, managing subcontractors, preforming takeoffs, project scheduling, developing scopes of work, and preparing estimates. Additionally, you will work on cost studies, forecasts, and other internal data projects.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in construction management, general contracting, or related field; Estimating experience is a plus.
- Completion of undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Consulting, or related field
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to read and understand construction documents, including plans and specifications
- Experience with takeoff software (On-Screen, Bluebeam, etc.) is a plus
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Passion for data analytics and visualization is a plus
- A proactive mindset, actively asks questions and learns from experience
