Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Engineer to join our IT team. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise Windows endpoints, creating and maintaining the golden image, overseeing patch management, and administering a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Windows environments, endpoint security, and device management.
Key Responsibilities
- Golden Image Management: Create, maintain, and deploy standardized golden images for Windows endpoints to ensure consistency, security, and performance across the enterprise.
- Patch Management: Implement and manage patching strategies for all Windows endpoints, ensuring timely updates, security compliance, and minimal downtime.
- MDM Administration: Manage and configure Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions (e.g., Intune, Workspace ONE, or other platforms) to enforce security policies, deploy applications, and manage corporate devices.
- Endpoint Security & Compliance: Ensure all desktops, laptops, and mobile devices meet security and compliance standards through proper configuration, updates, and monitoring.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide Tier 2/3 support for desktop-related incidents, diagnose hardware/software issues, and implement solutions.
- Automation & Scripting: Leverage scripting (PowerShell, batch scripting, etc.) to automate deployments, updates, and system configurations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation for imaging processes, patching schedules, and MDM configurations; provide regular reports on endpoint compliance and health.
- Collaboration & Training: Work with IT teams to streamline desktop deployments, improve user experience, and train support staff on best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Certifications:
- CompTIA A (Required)
- Microsoft MS-900 (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals) (Required)
- Additional certifications such as MD-102 (Endpoint Administrator) or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
- Experience:
- 2 years of experience in desktop engineering, system administration, or IT support.
- Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 deployment, patch management, and MDM solutions.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Experience working with enterprise tools like SCCM, Intune, or similar endpoint management platforms.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and imaging techniques (WDS, MDT, or SCCM).
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and security best practices.
- Experience with enterprise antivirus, encryption, and endpoint security tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with macOS device management is a plus.
- Knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
