YMCA Day Camp of Hooksett is seeking a positive, friendly and well-organized person with strong interpersonal skills to oversee camper and staff health and wellness for our summer day camp located at the Hooksett Memorial School in Hooksett, NH.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, caring for sick or injured campers, dispensing medication, responding to emergencies, reviewing camper health records and maintaining health logs.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Build positive nurturing relationships with campers
· Engage with campers in a way that fosters Character building
· Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage
· Establish effective and professional communication with campers, parents and co-workers
· Prepared to respond to and manage any medical situations that arise
· Provide a physically and psychologically safe environment and atmosphere for campers
· Maintain an attitude of positive flexibility to meet the day camp program needs
Qualifications:
· 1-2 years’ experience working with youth and staff preferred
· Current EMT, LNA, CNA, RN or Wilderness First Aid certification – licensure/certification subject to individual camp size, scope and location
· Excellent ability to work under pressure and in high-stress environments
· Ability to respond to and address medical emergencies at camp, and communicate/delegate needs during a medical emergency
· Must be a positive, enthusiastic and caring individual who is sensitive to the needs and development of the children who attend camp
· Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
· Possess strong organizational skills
· Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
Candidate must be an EMT or RN/LPN with current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. Camp operates for 8 weeks beginning June 24 and ending August 16. Pre-camp training and orientation begins in early June.
Position Specifics:
· Camp season runs 06/23/25 through 08/22/25 and must be able to work most of the camp weeks
