Job Summary
Camp Foss, a premier all girls' YMCA overnight camp located on the serene Willey Pond in Strafford, NH, is seeking a highly motivated Hobbies Director to lead our team of activity heads. This exciting opportunity will allow you to impact the lives of over 600 youth per summer and gain valuable experience in leadership and staff supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist activity heads in setting up safe and enjoyable environments for campers.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to hold regular meetings for hobbies staff and evaluate their performance after week three and at the end of the season.
- Schedule daily hobbies staff rotations to ensure all activities are covered.
- Ensure hobby areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained, reporting maintenance needs to the maintenance staff.
- Work with senior staff on general camp procedures and issues.
- Cross-train hobbies staff to cover multiple activities.
Requirements
- Enthusiasm, humor, patience, energy, maturity, focus, and creativity to effectively lead the team.
- General knowledge of Arts and Crafts, Performing Arts, Boating, Tomahawk Throwing, Archery, and Ropes.
- Able to build positive relationships with youth ages 8-15 years old and staff members.
Additional Information
This position requires living onsite for 8.5 weeks from June 10th to August 16th, with room and board provided. As a member of our team, you will gain lifelong skills transferable to future job and career choices.
Compensation
$485-$510 weekly based on experience with the Granite YMCA.
