Assistant Event Coordinator

Position Description
The GLTPA Event Coordinator ensures consistent, profitable growth by effectively coordinating all aspects of Association events. Event Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Coordinator in all aspects of the job.
Primary Objectives
· Meet and exceed budget expectations for all aspects of planned events
Major Areas of Responsibility
· Assist with coordinating all aspects of planned events
· Ensure the organization is remaining up to date on current advertising and event trends
· Explore options for new areas of growth
· Other duties as assigned
Specific Responsibilities of the Job
Successfully Coordinate All Aspects of Planned Events: This includes, but is not limited to, the GLTPA Annual Spring Celebration, the annual Great Lakes Logging and Heavy Equipment Expo and Log-A-Load for Kids events.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
· Must have articulate oral and written communication skills
· Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills
· Must have a pleasant, professional demeanor.
· Experience providing customer service via phone, fax, and written communication methods (paper & electronic)
· Working knowledge of and ability to operate basic office equipment
· Experience using MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access programs
· Must have ability to work at an independent pace that does not hinder the ability of other FISTA/GLTPA team members to complete their tasks
· Must work well with others and operate as part of a team
· Must hold a current, valid driver’s license
· Must have physical ability to sit or stand for up to four hours, safely lift up to 25 pounds, and safely manage stairs.
· Travel as needed for events, including overnight stays
Education
· Graduation for accredited high school or equivalent diploma
· Two years of college, technical training, or work experience relative to position is preferred
· Forest industry knowledge is preferred
