Position Summary:
The Infant Teacher at The Great Play Place Childcare Center provides nurturing, responsive care to infants, creating a warm, safe, and stimulating environment that supports their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. This role involves engaging infants in age-appropriate activities, maintaining a consistent routine, and fostering trusting relationships with children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Infant Care
- Provide attentive, individualized care to infants, including feeding, diapering, and soothing as needed.
- Follow each child’s unique schedule and adapt to their developmental needs.
- Create a nurturing environment that promotes secure attachment and emotional well-being.
Curriculum & Activities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that stimulate infants’ sensory, motor, and language development.
- Engage in one-on-one and small group interactions, such as singing, reading, and floor play.
- Foster exploration and curiosity through safe and stimulating materials and experiences.
Health & Safety
- Ensure a safe and clean classroom environment, adhering to all health and safety standards.
- Sanitize toys, equipment, and surfaces regularly to maintain a hygienic space.
- Monitor and respond promptly to infants’ needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Family Communication
- Build trusting relationships with families by providing daily updates on their child’s activities, growth, and milestones.
- Communicate any concerns or observations to families in a respectful and professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with families to support each infant’s unique development.
Classroom Management
- Maintain an organized and inviting classroom that supports infants’ growth and exploration.
- Monitor and document infants’ developmental progress and behaviors.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure consistency in care and routines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with infants in a childcare or educational setting (preferred).
- Knowledge of infant developmental milestones and best practices in infant care.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a background check and meet state licensing requirements.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $10.00 - $11.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
