Meet Boston is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Mobile Visitor Center Assistant Manager to help promote Greater Boston as a premier tourist destination. This exciting role combines supervisory, operational, and customer-facing responsibilities, working with visitors from around the globe to showcase the rich opportunities Boston has to offer.
As part of a dynamic team, the Mobile Visitor Center Assistant Manager will support the Mobile Visitor Center's operations and assist at the Boston Common Visitor Center when needed. This position is perfect for someone passionate about engaging with communities, creating exceptional visitor experiences, and driving Boston's tourism growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
Mobile Visitor Center Operations:
- Safely operate the Mobile Visitor Center (Mobile VIC) vehicle when needed. This includes driving to our daily locations and festivals around Boston.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and maintain a vehicle maintenance log.
- Ensure compliance with traffic rules and maintain a clean driving record.
- Restock retail merchandise, brochures, and ticket inventory for the Mobile VIC.
- Engage with local communities, providing information about Boston’s attractions and events.
Visitor Center Supervision:
- Train, supervise, and schedule staff for both the Mobile VIC and Boston Common Visitor Center.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing visitors' needs and questions.
- Maintain daily and monthly sales reports and visitor statistics.
- Oversee retail operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and POS system operations.
- Monitor service quality and recommend improvements as needed.
Administrative and Collaborative Tasks:
- Assist in creating monthly schedules for the Mobile Visitor Center.
- Manage daily register reconciliation, bank deposits, and troubleshooting issues.
- Stay informed about current events, Meet Boston marketing initiatives, and local attractions.
- Maintain relationships with Meet Boston partners, community organizations, and the Parks Department.
Other Duties:
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of all facilities and vehicles.
- Support the Manager and Vice President of Leisure Destination Services and Operations as needed.
- Contribute to the growth and development of Boston’s tourism sector.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role (strongly preferred).
- Prior experience in retail, tourism, or hospitality is an advantage.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Boston’s neighborhoods, attractions, and local events.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and in various weather conditions.
- Strong organizational and computer skills, including familiarity with POS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and tolerate extended periods of sitting and standing.
