What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afterschool Site Coordinator Sevier Middle School position at The Greater Kingsport Family YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the School Aged Childcare Director: the Afterschool Site Coordinator will provide direction and supervision for the program, staff, activities, and children at an off site location. This position requires availability during Afterschool and School’s Out hours and the ability to occasionally attend meetings and trainings at night or on the weekends. This position is only during the school year, with opportunities to apply to work in the summer camp program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Build relationships by using names and initiating conversations with all school personnel, staff, and volunteers.
· Maintains positive relations with children, parent, co-workers and volunteers, while maintaining confidentiality of information related to parents and children.
· Communicate with supervisor, staff, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner while using Listen First skills.
· Act as a positive role model for staff while implementing YMCA character development and following the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect.
· Assures compliance with state and local regulations.
· Assist in planning and implementing school out program days.
· Obtains needed information and inputs program efforts into data system for afterschool program reporting to stakeholders.
· Plans, lead, and implement activities within the established guidelines.
· Acquaints children with rules, activities, schedule, and area.
· Takes responsibility for the leadership, guidance and safety/welfare of each child in attendance. Supervises the children, areas, and all activities.
· Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
· Helps maintain the program site and equipment.
· Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
· Assists in training and serves as a mentor to other Afterschool staff.
· Supervises, trains, evaluates staff and Volunteers.
· Complies with our Child Protection Policy to create a safe and nurturing environment.
· Keeps supplies organized, maintains area and cares for equipment. Takes responsibility for cleaning of site.
· Helps to maintain proper records and department files.
· Promotes and market program and services to engage Afterschool parents.
· Report any problems, issues, or departmental concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
· Provide for a strong professional image in regards to dress, attitude, punctuality, communication, and demeanor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must meet one of the four education and training requirements: 1) graduated from a accredited rou-year college plus (2) years of full-time experience in group setting, 2) Four year degree in addition to at least one year of full-time (paid or unpaid) documented work experience with children or two years of college in addition to at least two years of full-time (paid or unpaid) documented work experience with children or a high school diploma in addition four years of full-time (paid or unpaid) documented work experience with children.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date and Child Abuse Prevention training along with other safety trainings assigned within 10 days of hire date.
4. Must be committed to and supportive of the Y mission with an emphasis on support and empathy to health seekers.
5. Must be detail oriented, good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi task.
6. Must have exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.
7. Must have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from various social and economic segments of the community.
