Job Title: Director of Business Development
Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid, minimum 3 days per week in office)
Overview: A leading company in the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced commercial lead for utility-scale solar, storage, and digital infrastructure assets. This role will focus on transaction execution, including project and portfolio M&A, asset acquisitions and dispositions, and strategic partnerships. Additionally, the position will play a key role in major project contract negotiations across offtake, procurement, and EPC. The Director of Business Development will report directly to the EVP, Head of Business Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Execution
- Identify, evaluate, and execute project and portfolio acquisition and partnership opportunities across various markets and asset classes.
- Provide investment recommendations based on strategic alignment, development fundamentals, revenue contracting opportunities, and financial analysis.
- Lead transaction execution, including negotiation of term sheets, definitive documentation, due diligence, financial modeling, and internal approval processes.
- Commercial Execution
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to negotiate commercial terms for late-stage project assets, including pricing, payment terms, credit support, and performance guarantees.
- Optimize project economics and manage execution risks by working on offtake structuring, engineering design, equipment selection, and project financing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; graduate degrees preferred but not required.
- 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role focused on utility-scale solar and storage projects.
- Proven track record in transaction execution across M&A, offtake, and procurement for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience in high-level investment discussions and contract negotiations.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
