Interconnection Project Leader - Power Delivery
Reporting to : Director of Power Delivery
Location : Houston, TX (hybrid)
Our client is looking for a dynamic Interconnection Project Leader to be a vital part of our expanding utility-scale solar project portfolio. In this role, you will play a key part in guiding projects seamlessly through the interconnection process and overseeing various aspects of preconstruction and construction, including the Collector substation and the ISO's HV switchyard. Your management skills will ensure that interconnection, substation, and high voltage studies are meticulously handled, and that project scope, schedules, and budgets remain accurate and on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the interconnection integration process for projects during both preconstruction and construction phases.
- Engage actively in decision-making during facilities studies, including options for building switchyards and collector substations.
- Work collaboratively with both internal and external engineering teams to develop project designs and specifications for utility-scale solar installations, specifically focusing on interconnection facilities.
- Establish and manage project initial schedules, budgets, and resource allocation in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify long lead items for project development and oversee their specification and procurement.
- Ensure compliance with interconnection process requirements while meeting critical project milestones.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders at ISOs to align with project goals.
- Coordinate with authorities to resolve any interface issues.
- Manage SCADA requirements and data points for Transmission Operators and ISC, ensuring incorporation into EPC contract scopes.
- Oversee the Auxiliary Station service agreements.
- Coordinate metering scope requirements in accordance with ICSA and address redundancy needs according to NERC CIP requirements.
- Lead the project management of engineering, procurement, and construction for ISO HV switchyards and Collector substations.
- Partner with Transmission Operators to evaluate and optimize substation costs associated with the interconnection facility.
- Negotiate and ensure compliance for HV Switchyard EPC contracts.
- Conduct site visits during construction phases to monitor progress, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Foster a culture of safety and security among all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Interconnection and Project Delivery Teams to establish clear accountability and interfaces.
