What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Server position at The Griswold Inn?
The Griswold Inn in Essex Ct. has openings for year-round, full or part time servers with a minimum of one year’ experience in full-service dining. They will need to be available to work a flexible schedule consisting of lunch and dinner shifts, Sundays are a must . The candidate must be reliable, enthusiastic and be accustomed to a high-energy, fast-paced environment. We welcome any bar experience, as well.
A typical skill set includes:
- Professional customer service of food, beverage, cocktails, wine and beer.
- Knowledge of POS system, basic menu ordering and cash handling.
- Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other side work.
- Staying updated on current menus and practice suggestive selling.
- Maintaining the proper dining experience, delivering items with use of trays, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling beverages.
- Properly open and pour wine tableside.
- Issuing guest checks and receipts, accepting payments, returning change.
- Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.
- Adhere to uniform and service standards consistently.
- Communicate products and services available at the Inn.
- Ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods of time, and lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.

Pay: From $15.65 per hour
