Position: Lead Housekeeping / Keyholder
Reports to: Facilities Director
Salary: $18.50
Type: Part-time (Non-exempt), expected to work non-regular hours, including opening and closing shifts as scheduled
POSITION SUMMARY:
@the Grounds is currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Lead Housekeeping / Keyholder. In addition to supporting daily cleaning operations, this role includes responsibilities for opening and/or closing the facility, guiding the housekeeping team, and ensuring compliance with all break and lunch schedules. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong leadership skills who takes initiative and always upholds cleanliness and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed
- Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas, green space, and parking lot
- Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders
- Remove garbage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up
- Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests
- Ensure rooms are maintained and fully equipped
- Served as opening and/or closing keyholder, responsible for securing the facility and preparing for daily operations
- Support the scheduling and monitoring of staff breaks and lunches to ensure compliance with labor laws
- Provide day-to-day guidance to housekeeping staff, including assigning tasks and assisting with on-the-job training
- Help out all other departments as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- One year of housekeeping experience is required
- Prior keyholder, supervisory, or lead experience preferred
- High school diploma/GED required
- Willingness to work early morning, evening, or weekend shifts
- Ability to work independently and lead by example
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 30 pounds as necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The housekeeping position involves both indoor and outdoor work in various environments, including offices, restrooms, kitchens, meeting spaces, and exterior areas such as walkways and parking lots. Team members may be exposed to varied weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or wind, especially when performing outdoor tasks. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of up to 30 pounds. Housekeepers must be able to use cleaning chemicals safely and may be required to operate equipment such as vacuums or floor scrubbers. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, particularly during large-scale events. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as the role may involve interaction with other departments and the public.
