POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operations Manager reports to the @the Grounds Director of Operations and works closely with all departments. The Operations Manager is responsible for leading the conversions team and overseeing event set up and breakdown.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under the guidance of the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager is responsible for the following:
Manage event setups, tear-downs, and transitions between events to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Hire, train, and supervise conversions team staff, ensuring all employees are well-equipped to execute event tasks efficiently.
- Provide direction, support, and leadership to the conversions team to foster a positive, collaborative working environment.
- Create and maintain staff schedules and labor tracking, ensuring adequate coverage for events and operational needs.
- Monitor event resource allocation, ensuring proper inventory management and equipment availability.
- Track and report on operational expenses and work to optimize efficiency without compromising event quality.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure that the events center equipment is in good condition, both before and after each event.
- Set up all meeting rooms to the specifications set by the Event Manager. This includes physical activity in transporting awkward and heavy materials such as staging, tables, chairs, etc., from storage areas to meeting rooms
- Manage Audio-Visual equipment, including setup/tear-down
- Respond quickly and efficiently to all guest/client requests
- Works with other departments to provide exceptional guest and client services.
- Adhere to all @the Grounds security, policies, and procedures to ensure safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to read and write utilizing the English language.
- Must be able to follow directions.
- Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, rain, or cold weather.
- Must be able to stand for an extended period, up to an entire shift, depending on the task assigned.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have and maintain a California Driver’s License (CDL) and be eligible to be insured by our insurance provider.
- Must always be respectful to internal and external clients.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Must remain calm in a crisis and high-pressure events and situations.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the business operations is required
- Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: Quickly solving issues is a plus.
- High-level organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Maturity and flexibility in working with a diverse membership with competing priorities.
- Forklift and aerial lift certification preferred, but training may be provided for the right candidate.
Education/Experience
Experience in events and the hospitality industry is preferred
- A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is preferred.
- Availability to work extended and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required.
