Barista

Overview
The Grove Cafe and Bakery is seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our team in creating exceptional coffee experiences for our customers. We work with 11th Hour Coffee Roasters as our coffee provider and serve craft coffee to meet their standard of excellence. As a Barista, you will play a vital role in our café, ensuring that every beverage is crafted to perfection while providing outstanding customer service. Your ability to collaborate with team members and maintain food safety standards will contribute to a welcoming atmosphere that keeps our customers coming back. Compensation starts at $16.50 tips. Tips are higher than an average barista since we are a restaurant so the check average is higher.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and food items according to established recipes and standards.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
• Operate cash registers and POS system accurately for processing transactions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including workstations, dining areas, and equipment.
• Follow food safety guidelines and proper food handling procedures during preparation and service.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of coffee, food supplies, and other materials.
• Engage with customers to promote new products or specials, enhancing their overall experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the food industry and as a barista is required.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and food handling regulations is an asset.
• Familiarity with cash registers or Aloha POS systems is advantageous but can be learned on the job.
• Willingness to learn about coffee preparation techniques and menu offerings.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour
