Position Overview:
As a Cafe Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the cafe, providing an exceptional customer experience, and overseeing day-to-day activities. You will manage a team of baristas and cafe staff, maintain inventory, ensure quality standards, and foster a positive work environment. This position requires strong leadership, multitasking, and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Cafe Team.
- Assign tasks and provide guidance to ensure smooth cafe operations.
- Ensure proper coverage during shifts.
- Customer Service:
- Greet customers, take orders, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
- Resolve customer complaints or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain a high standard of menu knowledge and recommendations.
- Ensure that customers receive their orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure that the Front of House is always staffed: Welcome all Members, take orders promptly, answer questions, anticipate a Members needs before they need to ask.
- Operations & Inventory Management:
- Oversee daily operations to ensure the cafe is clean, organized, and stocked.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with The Director for ordering needs.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and functioning properly (coffee machines, grinders, etc.).
- Event Support: Assist with event vendors / details, including room set-up, and ensure smooth operations during club events.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that all food and beverage items are prepared to company standards.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the cafe.
- Monitor quality of coffee, drinks, and food, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
- Financial Responsibilities:
- Ensure FOH is always present to place orders and capture transactions.
- Ensure that the cafe operates within budgetary guidelines to meet financial goals.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety and sanitation standards.
- Train and enforce safe practices for all cafe staff.
- Ensure the cafe environment is safe for both staff and customers.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the management team to align on goals and objectives.
- Communicate effectively with both the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Report any issues or concerns to the manager, offering potential solutions.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years in a cafe or restaurant setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience with coffee machines, brewing methods, and basic kitchen equipment is preferred.
- Safe Serve Certification is a MUST - If not currently active, we will sponsor prompt re-certification
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic cash handling and financial awareness.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a foodservice environment.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
OPERATING HOURS
- Weekdays 9am - 6pm*
- Weekends 8am - 1pm*
- *sometimes later for special events
- Hourly Pay - $16 - $20 based on experience
- Benefits after 3 months (ICHRA Plan)
