The Growing Patch Home Childcare is a licensed home-based daycare and we are expanding to add provide care for more children. We are looking for 1-2 childcare staff member to join us. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Hours: Daytime. Flexible. Year-round (cannot accommodate seasonal employment needs). No weekends. 15-25 hours per week. Anticipated start date is March 3, 2025.
Pay: $14.00-$18.00 per hour based on experience. Paid training. Paid holidays. Paid sick leave. Reimbursed milage for applicable errands and field trips.
Requirements: Must be 18 . Must have reliable transportation. Once offered the position, applicant must pass fingerprint background check and a medical clearance including a TB test. Previous TB test results accepted. Some physical requirements; please see below. CPR/First Aid certification provided if needed.
Job Description – Child Care Staff
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: A childcare staff member is an adult (18 years old) who assists in planning and carrying out a daily program designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of a group of children. This person must be sensitive to the needs of individual children and relate well to both the children and adults. Staff have experience with a wide variety of children, including infants, and are able to keep children engaged with fun activities throughout the day. The employee is attentive, prompt, patient, and able to work independently in a busy environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist in planning, scheduling, and implementing the daily program of appropriate developmental experiences for a group (up to 12) children ages infant-school age.
· Provide care and protection for assigned children.
· Maintain a physical environment conducive to children’s growth and development and arrange to promote optimal program functioning.
· Prepare, serve, and clean up meal and snack times.
· Assist in meeting each child’s physical and developmental needs.
· Consider and provide for the needs of the individual in relationship to their cultural and socioeconomic background, emotional or physical handicaps and individual style and pace of learning. Respect the dignity and basic rights of each child.
· Help children learn to adapt to and cope with real-life situations; to develop appropriate habits in such activities as eating, dressing, napping and personal hygiene.
· Make daily observations of the health of children, reporting conditions which require attention.
· Assist in daily record keeping.
· Participate in training sessions, conferences, workshops and other career development and professional activities. Complete continuing education hours per State requirements each year.
· Perform classroom related and other maintenance duties as requested.
· Maintain a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere for staff and children.
-Occasionaly run errands and help transport children on field trips.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Most days, employee will be working a portion of the day outside in temperatures ranging from 0*F to 90*F. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: A minimum of 3 years experience working with children ages 12 and under. Formal education, training, or experience in early childhood education or similar field is a plus. CPR/First Aid training will be provided if not currently certified. Upon hire, training will be provided as required by the State of Michigan as well as training on our policies and procedures. Five continuing education hours required yearly.
