The Growing Place School welcomes joyful, experienced elementary school educators to apply for a 2025-26 teaching position in upper elementary school (2-5). Established in 1963, TGPS expanded to elementary school over the last four years. Known for our award-winning environmental studies, SEL, and Spanish language program, our teachers engage student-centered learning inside and outside the classrooms.
Elementary school teachers are responsible for instructing students in the core subjects. The ideal candidate is comfortable teaching in classes with up to 16 students. You are someone who can differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a wide variety of students with different learning styles. You are committed to teaching with a student-centered approach and promote a positive classroom environment. You demonstrate strong classroom management skills in order to create and maintain a learning environment that ensures high levels of learning for all students. You enjoy communicating with children, teachers, and families to ensure the highest quality educational experience for our students.
Importantly, you are excited to work with our committed and energetic faculty to continue mapping, developing, and implementing the school’s curricular initiatives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- A bachelor’s degree in education or discipline-related field is required, an advanced degree preferred
- State certification required
- Classroom experience teaching at the elementary school level
- Demonstrated passion of project and activity-based instruction for elementary school students
- Ability to integrate technology, use innovative curricula, and employ best pedagogical practices
- Understanding of the developmental needs of elementary school students
- Ability to differentiate instruction to reach all levels of learners
- Collaborative spirit in developing curricula and teaching methods
- Ability to assess student performance formally and informally to meet the school's standards and benchmarks
- Flexibility, optimism, creativity, high expectations, and a growth mindset
- Proven positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and families
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven organizational skills
- Demonstrated child and growth mindset-centered approach to behavior management
- Commitment to Christian values and upholding them with students
- Ability to follow schedules/routines but understand that flexibility is needed to meet the needs of students/the program
- Interest in becoming part of a community of educators that values lifelong learning about the best practices in education
