We have an exciting opportunity for a Parent Involvement Specialist to join our team of talented professionals.
As a Parent Involvement Specialist in the Head Start Program, you will be responsible for providing professional expertise in parent, family and community engagement. Responsible for the monitoring and coordination of parent and community volunteers. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community partners. Provide leadership to parent meetings and committees. Coordinate and assist with community outreach and parent engagement for program development and promotion.
Specific Responsibilities include:
1. Provide support and leadership to Policy Council and parent committees meetings.
2. Provide and monitor parent and community volunteer orientations and trainings.
3. Recruit parents to participate in Policy Council and Parent Meetings and volunteerism at sites.
4. Coordinate and track inkind and develop monthly reports.
5. Provide leadership to inkind process and activities to meet required program goal.
6. Plan and conduct training sessions for parents, volunteers and staff.
7. Provide ongoing monitoring at sites and develop action plans as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, psychology, sociology or related field. Knowledge of Head Start programming preferred. Working knowledge of polices and factors that impact low income families with preschool children. At least one year of experience in planning and conducting workshops and training sessions. Two years’ experience in establishing networks, partnerships and advisory groups that support culturally and racially diverse low-income families.
