POSITION SUMMARY
The Safety Specialist provides support and assistance to ensure a safe environment for TGC employees and members.
POSITION DUTIES
- Monitor the safety of members and employees.
- Patrol the interior and exterior of the property, including parking lots for potential problems and safety issues, as requested.
- Respond to calls for code green (aggressive behavior) and assist in de-escalating the situation with TGC approved techniques, including proper seclusion and/or restraint.
- Assists PAC (Psychiatric Acute Care) Unit and the Crisis Stabilization Unit with high acuity clients.
- Promote safe work practices; resolve and/or report any safety concerns.
- Provide support and assistance to providers and their members, related to safety and de-escalation situations as they occur.
- Facilitate training as needed.
- Observe member's behavior and report undesirable behavior as appropriate.
- Assists staff with recreational programs offered to members as needed.
- Monitors facility for safety; including handling of unauthorized items that are found on property.
- Ability to handle emotional and stressful situations with agitated clients while remaining calm and supportive during crisis and potential crisis situations.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
- Provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers.
- Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
- Participate in Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement Processes of the agency.
- Complete all TGC required trainings on time.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism while performing job functions.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to learn.
- This position is 100% onsite, in the state of Arizona.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
One year safety experience
Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
Ability to obtain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
At least 21 years of age or older.
- Valid AZ driver's license.
Preferred:
- Background in member care
- Background in security
