Assists in the day-to-day provision of active support and programming, according to the support plan of program participants. Promotes and protects the program participants’ civil and personal rights as well as help to maintain the program participant’s state of well-being, both physical and emotional as outlined in the program plans, and applicable regulations. Ensures the safety of program participants, co-workers, and self, through the appropriate use of universal precautions, appropriate lifting and other treatment techniques.
Position
- Assists with development and delivery of all aspects of service provision as specified within the program participant’s support plan to include: recreational services, sensory motor development, physical development and health, nutrition, affective development, auditory, cognitive, and social development, adaptive behavior, personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, self-care, transportation, independent living, community integration, pre-vocational activities, and behavioral support
- Maintains and enhances social skills through active engagement and helps to identify potential problems in the social/emotional area
- Transports and/or accompanies program participants to social and recreational activities, medical appointments, and other destinations, as needed ensuring the safety of the program participant at all times. Ability to exert considerable effort with regard to transferring, lifting and providing physical intervention to developmental disabled individuals
- Provides appropriate habilitative services to program participants, and actively implement plans designed to meet the program participant’s needs through group and individual activity
- Contributes and participates in the interdisciplinary team and the individual treatment planning process and maintain appropriate, complete and up-to-date records and other documentation as specified by management
- Complies with all Agency standards, rules, practices, policies and procedures, providing all services in a manner consistent with Agency philosophy
- Maintains a sanitary and healthy environment at the program sites
- Abides by the Code of Conduct for Custodians of People w/Special Needs as authored and required by OPWDD. The code requires that all staff will stop and report emotional and/or physical abuse immediately
