Job Responsibilities:
As a Pipe Foreperson, your key responsibilities will include directing the activities of workers involved in constructing highways, pipelines, and other projects. This involves performing all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies, reading blueprints and job-related documents to plan work effectively, recording daily events in a job diary, scheduling materials, equipment, and work for the crew, developing crew SIPs, tracking daily quantities, conducting daily huddles, and communicating goals and purposes effectively. You will also lead and demonstrate by example, influence and enforce company values, recognize misalignments with company values and culture, and rectify them proactively. Additionally, you will train and mentor crew members to enhance their skills and knowledge, communicate with customer representatives and inspectors professionally, and perform all other duties of crew members as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or one year of related experience and/or training. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. You should also have the ability to read blueprints and job-related documents, strong verbal and written communication skills, mathematical skills including probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Demonstrated leadership ability, problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, a driver's license with a clean driving record, and the ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE are essential. Additionally, you must be able to meet physical requirements, which include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling regularly, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing; frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds; and having vision abilities such as close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and adjusting focus.
