The Heavy Civil Laborer plays a critical role in the success of our construction projects.

About the Role
The Heavy Civil Laborer will be responsible for performing various tasks related to construction projects, including:
- Working on utility capacity and transferring from one task to another as required
- Supporting bridge and related structural heavy civil and highway construction projects throughout Northeast PA and the Lehigh Valley
- Performing all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
- Acquiring tools needed for daily operations
- Measuring distances from grade stakes, driving stakes, and stretching tight line
- Bolting, nailing, aligning, and blocking up under forms
- Signaling operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications
- Leveling earth to fine grade specifications
- Mixing concrete
- Smoothing and finishing freshly poured cement or concrete
- Positioning, joining, aligning, and sealing pipe sections
- Erecting scaffolding, shoring, and braces
- Paving duties: assisting with pre-run markings, using a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compacts, operating vibratory plate as needed, shoveling asphalt as required, and directing traffic around work area as required
- Pipe duties: getting tools needed for daily operations, getting job set up for daily function such as setting up a pipe laser, operating a Wacker and jumping jack to perform backfilling duties, using cut saws to make pipe proper length, prepping pipe for connection before pipe gets lowered, shooting grades and checking grades using laser or conventional methods, performing connection of pipe work, and responsible for checking for proper pipe slope
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- One month of related experience and/or training
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical skills including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
