Milling Foreperson Job Description at The H&K Group, Inc.

The Milling Foreperson directs activities of workers concerned with the milling of roads and highways. This role requires a dependable, dedicated, and strong leader who can work efficiently without compromising their responsibility to conduct the functions of their position in a safe and responsible manner.

Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and job-related documents.
• Records daily events in job diary.
• Schedules materials, equipment, and work for the crew.
• Analyzes crew SIPs to create site SIPs.
• Obtains quantities from crews and prepares for billing process with PM.
• Analyzes cost reports for production adjustments.
• Accurately codes and controls onsite costs.
• Conducts site meetings.
• Attends job turnover meetings.
• Communicates goals and purposes effectively.
• Leads by example.
• Influences and enforces company values, recognizes misalignments, and ensures compliance.
• Understands and anticipates customer's needs.
• Understands business practices within the organization and the importance of repeat business.
• Communicates with customer representatives and represents the company professionally.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• PennDot road construction experience.
• Strong Verbal and Written Communications skills.
• Ability to work with probability, statistical inference, and the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Basic computer skills including internet, email, and documentation using digital cameras.
• Demonstrated leadership.
• Demonstrated dependability and punctuality.
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job).

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years of experience with milling machines on highway road construction projects.
