The H.O.P.E Academy is a private-Christian school located in Northeast Baltimore. We are seeking qualified teachers who can instruct students grades kindergarten through 5 in a self-contained setting. Teaches will be responsible for creating an environment that prepares, develops and draws out the best in our students.

Realizing that education is paramount, our mission is to enable our students to grow, learn and develop to their fullest God-given potential through a structured, Christ-centered educational program that will challenge and equip them with the tools necessary to stimulate academic and spiritual growth, build strong self-esteem, and develop healthy relationships with their peers and caring adults.

Accordingly, teachers are expected to be committed to helping our students grow and succeed inside and outside the classroom.

Description

We are looking for full-time experienced teachers to complement our committed staff of educators. Teachers will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school’s curriculum which is aligned with Maryland state-wide goals and priorities. Daily, rigorous instruction will enable students to develop their individual skills and gifts. The ideal candidates will have a passion for teaching with an ability to reach each student. They will know how to organize a class and make learning an attainable, meaningful process. The goal is to help cultivate the students’ interest in education, learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the core subjects which include language arts, mathematics, science, social science and geography
  • Develop daily written lesson plans based on assessed needs and instructional objectives which engage the students and challenges them to think and perform at high levels
  • Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
  • Provide individualized instruction to each student as needed
  • Create and distribute educational content to supplement the curriculum (notes, summaries, assignments etc.)
  • Promote interactive, hand-on learning
  • Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom that is visually attractive
  • Plan and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and field trips
  • Assess and record students’ outcomes and provide grades and feedback
  • Communicate to the parents orally and in writing about their child’s total progress
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders
  • Participate in regular teacher meetings
  • Attend after-school meetings and events
  • Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences etc.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a teacher in charge of an elementary classroom
  • Thorough knowledge of best teaching practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-organized and committed
  • Creative and energetic
  • Strong moral values and discipline that align with our school's beliefs.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in a specialized subject from an accredited college or institution. Official transcript will be required before hiring.

License

  • MD Teaching Certificate (Preferred but not required)

  • Salary commensurate with education and experience
