ROLE SUMMARY:
The Host/Hostess is a key and important position for the success of the guest experience and restaurant. They will serve as the face of the restaurant and provide guests with their first impression of the establishment. The ideal candidate possesses a guest first attitude, strong commitment to service, and excellent communication skills. We ask for a willingness to receive and offer direction, be solutions oriented, and encourage a hospitality driven environment. Open availability is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and escort guests to tables in a gracious and professional manner.
- Interact with guests and fellow staff members in a polite, courteous, and hospitable manner to ensure all guests have an exemplary dining experience.
- Greet and acknowledge VIPs in a professional manner.
- Control the flow of guests coming into the restaurant and bar.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
- Maintain a proactive approach to solving any guest questions or problems.
- Direct guest to the appropriate waiting area and provide table updates.
- Bid farewell to guests, using their name, and encouraging them to return to the restaurant.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment.
- Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department.
- Assist in supervising food servers, bussers, and food runners as it relates to guest contact and table information.
- Oversee daily restaurant reservations and pre-assigns seating when necessary.
- Communicate with management regarding special orders, cake orders, special requests, and VIP requests.
- Shut down podium and reorganize host stand at end of a shift.
- Ensure that all lost items are returned to management.
- Act as a brand ambassador for the company.
- Ensure compliance of all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division, and Health Department.
- Perform all opening and closing duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 1 year experience as a host in a high-volume, fine dining setting.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have a Certified Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service Training.
- Must have excellent time management skills.
- Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be reliable, responsible, and trustworthy.
- Must have high energy, great communication skills, and be able to work as part of a team.
- Must be able to stand during entire shift, often up to 8 hours with frequent bending, squatting, and lifting plates, boxes, and objects up to 30lbs.
- Must have attention to detail and willingness to deliver exceptional customer service.
