Job Overview:
The Assistant General Manager serves as a supporting role to the General Manager. They will oversee the daily operation of all departments including, but not limited to: Guest Services, Housekeeping and Maintenance. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for various financial aspects of the resort and for ensuring all relationships with our guests, associates, sales, vendors are maintained positively and professionally at all times.
Role Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all brand standards are being maintained in each area of the property
- Oversees the operation of the all hotel property departments
- Responsible for assisting the General Manager in covering all shifts in any department.
- Assists with inventory of each department and ordering products when needed.
- Assists and approves department scheduling against guest and hours/occupied room goals.
- Assist all employees with constructive coaching and counseling
- Motivates and empowers staff to solve guest issues
- Provides excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable for all guests
- Handle guest relations issues as needed.
- Ensures training and onboarding of all new team members are thorough and completed in a timely fashion
- Responsible for assisting the hotel in achieve the profitability and quality standard goals.
- Assists with monitoring the performance of all daily operations assuring all departments are keeping with the highest standards. This would include team members' morale, communication, and a functional organizational structure where all players in the team know their responsibilities and who to report to.
- Implements proven marketing and guest relations programs to promote the hotel’s services and facilities to potential and present guests, including other external communications. Delivers and promotes prompt, friendly service to all guests, making them feel welcome.
- Oversee and work with department heads to supervise staffing, conducting team meetings as required so that the goals and objectives of the hotel are achieved at the highest levels of quality and guest service.
- Maintains MAA Elkins Hospitality associate policy; initiates and monitors policies relating to personnel actions, performance reviews, and training and professional development programs.
- Participates in weekly revenue meetings.
- Performs other duties as directed by the General Manager or MAA Elkins Hospitality LCC.
Qualifications:
Must have direct experience in all key aspects of hotel operations or similar management roles, including, rooms, food & beverage, marketing & sales, and cash flow. Passion for the business of hotels with established experience in team building. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly organized with strong attention to detail, and will have strong written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, the Assistance General Manager will be proficient with technology, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Applications.

- Must have a passion to execute the administration of the hotel and ensuring the profitability of the facility
- Must use R&I – Be resourceful and take initiative to accomplish tasks
- Assist with maintaining ongoing and proper Human Resources for all team members as well as new hires and terminated employees (Handbooks, PAFs, and Reviews).
- Participate in all Meetings with GM, Revenue meeting, Monthly Team Meetings, Disciplinary Meetings.
- Responsible for the Safety of Guests and Property.
