Busy Orthopedic Office seeks an experienced medical receptionist for a 20- 29 hour work week. The primary location of this position is the Glastonbury office . However, Candidate will be required to travel to our satellite sites on occasion or as part of regular schedule ( Hartford, Tolland, Bloomfield, Torrington, Farmington).
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for interacting with patients in a healthcare setting and managing administrative tasks for the medical team. Duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling patient appointments according to Provider availability, explaining intake forms to new patients and processing payments. The Medical Receptionist plays a key role in representing the practice within the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
· Checks in patients, verifies and updates demographic and other information in the practice management system.
· Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides information as required.
· Maintains appointments and follows office scheduling policies.
· Pulls charts, Files charts, coordinates and prepares charts for therapists.
· Checks patient eligibility and previous balances to ensure payment at time of service for co-payments and co-insurance payments.
· Collects co-payments and co-insurance payments and posts them to the practice management system.
· Runs journal and balances cash box at end of day and forwards journals and receipts to billing manager.
· Screens visitors Notifies staff members of arrival of visitor(s).
· Provides support services to patients and staff.
· Schedules follow-up appointments for patients as requested.
· Verifies completion of patient pre-certification and documentation of such in practice management system.
· Ensures therapy patients are within limits and in accordance with managed care company and worker’s compensation benefit guidelines.
· Provides patients with Notice of Privacy Practices and marks system in appropriate area.
· Enters charges if requested by supervisor.
· Escorts patients to therapy area and assists therapist when needed.
· Maintains work area and therapy area for cleanliness and patient safety.
· Counts and verifies encounters with schedule to ensure all charges have been captured.
· Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $19.25 per hour
